Purchasing a Twilio Number

Step 1: Open the Buy a Number Page

In the Twilio Console:

• Go to Develop → Phone Numbers → Manage → Buy a Number

Step 2: Search for a Number

Configure your search:

• Country – Where the number is based

• Capabilities – Voice, SMS, or both

• Search Criteria – Area code, digits, prefix, or phrases you want in your phone number

• Advanced Options (optional):

  • Local, mobile, or toll-free

  • Emergency calling

  • Address requirements

  • Beta numbers

Click Search.

Step 3: Buy the Number

Review the available numbers.

Search results will be displayed with the phone number, location, type, capabilities, and price listed.

Check:

• Capabilities

• Monthly price

• Location

Click Buy to purchase the phone number you want for your current project or sub-account.

To display additional number options click Refresh results at the bottom of the page.

Important Notes on Phone Number Compliance

• Some countries require identity documentation to activate numbers

• Twilio will prompt you if additional documents are required

• Requirements vary by country and number type

Many countries require identity documentation for Phone Number compliance. Requests to provision phone numbers with these regulations will be required to select or add the required documentation after clicking Buy in Console.
