Some Twilio numbers require verification for outbound messaging in the United States.

What Is A2P 10DLC (US SMS Compliance)?

A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code) is required by US carriers to ensure compliant, high-deliverability SMS messaging. To use SMS in the US with your Twilio number, you must complete this registration.

To send SMS in the US using Twilio, you must:

  • Register your business

  • Register a messaging campaign

  • Assign your phone number to that campaign

Step 1: Open the Trust Hub

1

Log in to Twilio Console

Once logged in, open the sidebar menu.

2

Go to Account → Trust Hub

3

You will see the list of compliance requirements, including A2P 10DLC.

4

Find US A2P Messaging or A2P 10DLC and click Register or Start Registration.

A2P registration has two main parts:

  • Once approved, your Twilio number is fully authorized for US SMS messaging.

  • After approval:

    • Send a test SMS

    • Confirm delivery

    • Ensure the number is linked inside your assistant’s settings in Call Agent AI

Notes & Fees

  • Use accurate business information to avoid delays.

  • Opt-in/opt-out language is required for all campaigns.

  • Carriers may reject campaigns with unclear or generic message samples.

  • Twilio charges small fees for A2P registration and monthly campaign fees.
