Purchase a Twilio Number

Step 1: Log In to Your Twilio Account

Go to the Twilio website and log in here.

If you don't have an account, create one here.

Step 2: Find Possible Phone Numbers to Purchase

In the left-hand menu, navigate to Phone Numbers > Manage > Buy a Number.

Use the search filters to find the type of number you need.

• Country - Choose the country you want the number for.

• Number Type

  • Local (standard numbers with a geographic area code).

  • Toll-Free (800, 888, etc.).

  • Mobile (numbers capable of SMS/MMS).

• Capabilities - Select from the following options.

  • Voice

  • SMS

  • MMS

  • Fax

Enter a specific area code or keyword to narrow down the results.

Click Search to display available numbers.

If a number is unavailable, try searching for nearby area codes or different number types.

Step 3: Choose and Purchase the Number

Review the list of available numbers and select one that meets your needs.

Click the Buy button next to the desired number.

If you created a new account, you will receive $15 in trial credit to purchase your first phone number and cover a few months of usage, courtesy of Twilio.

Confirm the purchase when prompted. Twilio will display the monthly cost of the number.

Ensure your Twilio account has sufficient funds to purchase and maintain the number.

Step 4: Verify Your Purchase

Go to Phone Numbers > Manage > Active Numbers.

You will see your newly purchased number listed here.

Step 5: Configure the Number

After purchasing, you can configure the phone number to route calls and messages.

Set up voice handling (forwarding calls to another number or integrating with an application).
